Our Office Project

We probably looked at 30 houses before we decided to go for the one we bought. I am very lucky to have a husband and father-in-law that can do pretty much anything when it comes to home repairs and renovations. They really are amazing. So while walking through our house last year, seeing that is was very stuck in 1997 was no problem. I could look past that. But there was one room that I knew would be MY project, the office. It was floor to ceiling wallpaper- 3 different kinds! It was really dark and looked pretty small, but most offices are. Here, I'll give you a visual:

So while the boys took on the skilled tasks, I tackled the dreaded.....wallpaper- ugh. I had a little help in the beginning...

And then I was alone...and worked and worked and worked.

Then it was time for patching...that is what I call a "skilled task," so enter boys...

Here it is with the paint (mmmmm green) and the floors are in, just not finished. Good bye disgusting carpet!

And then the drum roll please...............

Oh those floors are making me swoon!

And lastly, it being used:

Our goal in the next year or so is to get new office furniture, but for now, this will have to do. It is fairly functional for us, and came at no cost since these were the desks we had pre-home ownership.

So what exactly did we do?
*Removed 3 layered wallpaper
*Patched/Repaired walls
*Painted the ceiling
*Painted the walls: Color is Wheat Grass by Ace- Flat Eggshell
*Removed the carpet
*Laid red oak hardwood floors and finished them
*Installed a new window (looks the same, but I promise it is new!)

What we still need to do:
*Install toe molding (we have it, but need the weather to break so Carl can work in the garage with it)
*Buy new furniture :)
*Get some sort of window treatment, but I'm not sure what exactly we want...

  1. Good job! Our house was also stuck in 1997 so I know how you feel.

  2. Taking down wallpaper is so tough! I don't envy you that at all. The room looks so great!
