Product Review: Method Daily Shower Spray

I've talked before about the importance of a daily shower spray. If you've never used one before, trust me, you should. I finally made the switch to the Method Daily Shower Spray and am thoroughly pleased!

Product Review:
1. The scent is quite nice- sort of baby powder like
2. It is non-toxic, so I feel ok spraying it while I'm still in the shower with no harm to my cooking baby
3. It works just as good as any other spray I've used, if not better
4. It is a touch more expensive than the other sprays I've used, but I find the benefits to outweigh this small negative

Things to note:
1. Starting with a clean shower is rather key. The shower sprays are really meant to keep up on a clean shower, not actually clean the shower
2. However, this spray specifically says that if you don't start with a clean shower, just expect 3-4 weeks for it to actually clean it. I thought that was pretty impressive.
3. If you aren't faithful with it, it doesn't take long for the grime to come back. I find I can miss a day here and there, but more than a couple days and you lose a lot of the progress.

Hey there blogland, I'm stopping in real quick to finish what I started last night. This morning as I was making my coffee, I was admiring my clean microwave, but that feeling of accomplishment quickly flew out the window. The vent above the microwave was looking rather dingy. So I grabbed my handy multi-purpose tool that I keep in our kitchen drawer (yes...it really is floral like this)

and unscrewed the vent. I used the spray degreaser I talked about in this post quickly this morning. In about all of 10 minutes, I had a bright and fresh microwave vent. So, if yours is looking grimey too, it can really take you just a few minutes to finish!

Tackle it Tuesday: Behind Door #1...

Behind doors #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8 was nothing but some grime. My inside doors needed a good scrub, and so I tackled em to the ground tonight! I have 8 doors between bedrooms, bathrooms, basement and the laundry room. And from start to finish, it took me just about an hour. Not bad and totally worth it. They don't look brand spanking new, but they definitely look a ton better! We have 3 panel doors, and as much as Carl would like to replace them all with 6 panel, that's just not a top priority in the budget. So our 3 panel, freshly scrubbed doors it is!




If you want to be a greener cleaner, make a solution with 1 cup white distilled vinegar, 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup ammonia and 1 gallon warm water. Wipe on with a sponge or damp,not wet, towel. And click here for a ton of green cleaning solutions!

Otherwise, a mix of water and Pine Sol does the trick as well, and if you are a fan of the smell like me, you'll enjoy the lingering scent!

That was it for me tonight, but I did want to post one thing Carl tackled this past weekend. The bulbs under our microwave were burnt out, but the bottom grate also needed a serious cleaning. I wish I had taken a before picture, but I didn't realize how much better it was going to look! I'm pretty sure this was yet another thing that was never cleaned before we moved here. We had never even taken the time to put bulbs in before! (yes...a year later, we finally did.) It looks great now! And I love my new found light :)



Did you just go look at the bottom of your microwave? Was your reaction "EW!" or something along those lines? If you answered yes, I highly suggest investing in this product- we got it at Home Depot. Worth every penny- and that's coming from Carl. He's a tough customer.

Product Review: Hoover FloorMate Floor Cleaner

I've mentioned before that there are a few things I hate; cleaning the shower and washing the hardwood floors. I've already given you a tip about what I do to the shower, but today, let's look at those floors. Oh beautiful, glorious floors.

I would have them throughout the whole house, rather than just the first floor, if we could afford to do it, but I digress. So to clean them. My quick dusting is always done with a dry swiffer- mostly in the living areas and office. Then for daily/weekly cleaning, I use a wet swiffer. They are little cloths sent from the heavens. But, usually 1-2 times a month, I like to really deep clean them. Now, why don't I just use this every week? Well, it's a process. We have a love/hate relationship. I really do love how clean it gets the floors and the way it smells, BUT it is time consuming. For me to do about 1200 sq ft of wood floors, including moving furniture, it takes a good 4 hours. No joke. There are 3 steps, 1st it dry vacuums, then it wet scrubs and then it wet vacuums. It's a great tool, but I wouldn't want to do it every week.

So, overall, if you are looking for a quick way to get your floors clean, I think you are looking in the wrong spot. BUT, if you are looking for a good way to clean your floors, get this bad boy! When it's paired up with regular cleanings with a swiffer, I think it's a dirt killing super duo!

Soooo, the dreaded question. How clean are your floors? eek.

Product Review: Arm & Hammer Clean Shower

There are two things I hate cleaning, the floors (but I'll go into that another day) and the shower. But there is one product that has made my hatred lessen quite a bit when it comes to that tiled grime haven. Arm & Hammer Clean Shower daily spray.




This is seriously one of the best products on the market, and paired with Tilex Mold and Mildew (again...I'll get into that at a later date) they are a deadly combination against anything that ails your shower! The directions state to start with a clean shower, and I agree. I promise, that could very well be the last time you get down and scrub scrub scrub it! Spray the product every day after you shower, and never again will the grime return!

Product Review: Shoes Under

Gibson's (naughty beagle)crate is kept in our bedroom. He has figured out that going under the bed delays his inevitable time in the crate, so while I enjoy having nothing under my bed, I was tired of spending extra minutes wiggling myself under there to get him out. (Do you have this pictured in your head yet?) So I decided to kill two birds with one stone; my ever growing shoe collection and my poorly behaved pup. Enter Shoes Under. You can purchase this item which holds 12 pairs of shoes for $9.99 a piece at Bed, Bath and Beyond. But what girl has 12 pairs of shoes? So I loaded up my cart with 4 of them, used 2 $5 off coupons and got them all for $30. Not a bad deal!

So let's show you them at work!

My previous situation was on these racks, taking up the majority of the floor space in our guest room closet. They didn't look this bad...this was after the trip down the hallway to our bedroom.


So I placed the shoes in the four new organizers, and ta da! We have a queen sized bed, which would easily fit 6 of the organizers. So under the bed they go.


Now I know what you are thinking. Well...if you are like me. I was thinking a couple things.
1. I am going to forget what shoes I have- out of site out of mind.
2. I'm going to get annoyed after pulling out the wrong organizer time after time.
So I took pictures of each organizer by itself. Arranged them on the computer just like they are under the bed and printed it off. I hung it just behind our bi fold closet doors. So I can continue being a visual person.




So far, I'm really pleased with the system. My only complaint is that the commercial makes it look really sturdy, almost as though it has cardboard in it, but that's not the case. They are rather flimsy, but it's not really an issue once you have the shoes in them. I say try it!
