Sunday Happenings

Sundays have really become treasured days for me. I'll be so sad when our town's farmer's market comes to an end for the year. I'm having way too much fun finding produce and other neat finds. My favorite so far this year? A Tart Michigan Cherry & Rhubarb Jam- YUM!!

Farmer's Market Bounty:
Sunflowers
Nectarines
Apples
Candy Onions
English Toasting Bread
Total Cost: $13.50

I also like that it gives me an excuse to get dressed :/ I mean, I get dressed every day, but Cam doesn't care what I wear. It's all the same to him.

Normally I play it safe, but lately I've been mixing unexpected colors, at least for me. Mustard, blue-gray, ivory and bronze? Sure!

Mustard Top: Banana Republic Factory
Blue-Gray & Ivory Chevron Print Skirt: Old Navy
Bronze Belt: JCrew Factory...I think....
Necklace...that you can't see: Lia Sophia
Bronze Sandals: NY&Co I think, from oh probably 5 years ago

Mr. Cam's Outfit:
White Long Sleeved Polo: Old Navy
Blue & White Striped Belted Shorts: Old Navy
Shoes: Target

Perhaps when the farmer's market is over for the year, I'll just focus on couponing. Although, I don't think I need to spend any extra time on that! I am stockpiled on enough items as it is! The way I coupon is a little different than your normal couponer. I'm pretty brand loyal. I find something I like and I usually stick with it. But when I find a good deal on something we use, then I will definitely stock up!

Target:
My favorite Merona Tank Tops on sale this week for $5 down from $8! I got 5 :)
Tropicana Orange Juice- On sale for $3 + $1 off manf coupon = $2 a bottle!
Cottonelle Wipes $2.49 each. $1.25 off Target coupon + $.75 Manf coupon = $1.24 each!

The spoons weren't a deal, but I did buy them today :)

We're still working hard on our projects tonight, but I can't wait for all the updates this week! Stay tuned for lots of new posts!

What I Wore: Late Afternoon Birthday Party

I failed. I promised I would take better photos. Maybe next time folks. For now, enjoy my crappy ones!

We had our nephew/Godson's birthday party tonight. It was late afternoon, so I wanted to be comfortable and prepared for cooler weather as the sun went down. I wore the same navy cropped pants as last week and my favorite white and blue striped button down. It's a little baggy, so I cinched it with a light pinky-peachy floral ribbon belt and added another touch of pink with a multi-tiered pink and pearl chain necklace. Lastly, some silver sandals finished it up nicely. I was comfortable and felt good about the overall look, which is always a plus to me!

Button Down: JCrew
Pants: JCrew Factory
Sandals: The Gap Factory
Floral Belt: JCrew Factory
Necklace: Lia Sophia (crappy up close shot below)

I'm linking up!

What I Wore: Late Summer BBQ

1. I don't like that my title has the word "Late" next to the word "Summer." But it's true.
2. I promise, I'll take better photos of my WIW in the future. I am realizing how difficult it is to take a last minute photo with a kid in the picture...the picture of life, not that actual photo. You know what I mean.
3. I am willing to post the not so great photo, because I just adore so much of this outfit.
Top: JCrew Factory
Cropped Pants: JCrew Factory
Sandals: JCrew Factory
Clutch: Coach
(Yeah...not a lot of variety going on there)

What I love about it:
  • The olivey-mustard color of the stripes
  • The stripes, in general
  • The almost muslin material of the shirt
  • Navy.
  • My gold shoes that go with my gold cocktail ring- I wear them, probably, too often.
And because you can't see it up there, the ring. I love the rolled edges and how they sort of give it a nautical theme. The opal was bought by my parents in Australia as a gift. I had worked with family friend who designs jewelry to do the setting. That was back in 8th grade or so...which I think is pretty interesting too!

I'm Going to Army.

Ok, not really. But if you know what that line is from, you can be my friend. But my outfit today felt very military inspired and so I've been quoting Buster Bluth in my head all day.

Brown Leather Boots: Aldo (I can't get enough of these boots, seriously!)
Distressed Skinny Jeans: Express
Long-Sleeved Brown T: Gap
Military Inspired Olive Jacket: Banana Republic
Brown Leather Bag: Coach

Sorry for the not so great photo, but we were getting ready to walk out the door for church, and this was one of the only ones we got without Gibson trying to make an appearance. See?

Oh, and no, you aren't seeing double. I actually posted twice today for your reading pleasure ;)

Football Fashion

I haven't done one of these in awhile, probably because I haven't worn anything cute in quite some time ;) I've actually been wearing this outfit a ton because it is really versatile! I wanted something that could get me through all my errand running and then to a small party later on tonight. I've also worn it shopping and out for the evening. The boots are super comfortable!

Brown Leather Boots: Aldo
Olive Matchstick Cords: JCrew
Navy long sleeve tissue T: JCrew
Multi-Color Scarf: Old Navy

Sunday Updates

I'm enjoying an awfully lazy Sunday evening, waiting on our simmering white chicken chili, so I figured I'd give a partial weekend update. First of all, if you were part of the 10% that preferred I don't do fashion posts, close your eyes real quick! Like I said, I'm not changing the tune of this blog, rather just throwing in a few of my outfits I had fun wearing. We went out for my "little sister's" (she's actually Carl's cousin's girlfriend, but she's one of my most favorite people in the world!) birthday on Saturday night, and she is always a fashion statement. I have to try to keep up with her :) So I put this together, and I felt great in it all night. It was comfortable for an evening of dancing, but still bar appropriate.

Gauze Scarf: Old Navy
T-Shirt Dress: Old Navy
Jeans: Express
Shoes: Steve Madden

The other piece of this partial update is what's been going on in my basement this weekend. When we bought our house, the basement wasn't touched after the builders left. It was just a plain ol basement. And now...it's...um...still a plain ol basement, but it's a touch more welcoming. Carl painted and dry locked the floor and walls when we first moved in, and the ultimate plan is to finish it down the road, but definitely not until little kiddos are cramping the space upstairs ;) Although, for now, it does have a purpose; it houses our treadmill. While having killer legs (should I have them some day) are a great motivation, I need something else to pull me down there. So we took my very old TV and hung it in the corner. Carl had to install a 2x4 to attach the TV mount, but otherwise, there wasn't much to this.

So now, I can work out in tandem with my favorite Biggest Loser contestants! It was a really inexpensive fix to getting me to spend some time with my new BFF, treadmill.

Cost Breakdown:
Paint for floor and walls: $80
TV: Already had it $0
TV Mount: Gifted from in-laws...love the in-laws! $0
Rug: Sam's Club $30
2x4s & necessary supplies: $9
Treadmill & Weights: Craigslist find $175 (delivered)

So my makeshift, temporary gym cost a total of $294

I'm really looking forward to finishing the basement one day, but since we don't really need the space, it's just not a good use of funds. I'm anxious to put in the miles down there for now!
Happy Sunday Night!

Monday Morning Weekend Round Up

Good Morning everyone! It's time to check in and see how productive you were this weekend! For us, it was seriously busy, but luckily it didn't fly by too fast. It was actually enjoyable.

Friday:
-Make pizza on the grill
-Work on the sideboard decor
(still not done though- looking better!)
-Clean the 1/2 bath

Saturday:
-Round up the ripe goodies from the garden
-Attend baby shower for a good friend

-Decide on, shop for and make something for Oktoberfest party (German Coleslaw- click to see recipe)
-Attend Oktoberfest party!

- Weed and cut the grass if necessary (wasn't necessary)
- Paint and finish the spare bedroom

Sunday:
-Help my mom at her church's chicken dinner
-Menu plan and grocery shop if necessary (You can see it on the right side of my blog)
-Crash! This is a big event filled weekend!
- We don't get Showtime back until next week, so there was no crashing. After the dinner, we had to go grab Gibson and head to my brother's house to watch new TV. It was worth it, and technically we crashed when we got there :)

And since it's officially fall, I was able to expand my wardrobe a little bit. I don't intend to make this a fashion blog by any means, but I figured I would welcome fall not only with decor, but a sweater and a scarf :)

Disclaimer:
I am NOT a fashionista. I do not claim to dress super cute. Rather, I try to make the best of my wardrobe. I like a lot of neutrals with a pop of color when necessary.

Afternoon Baby Shower:

T-Shirt: Banana Republic Outlet
Pants: Gap
Scarf: Gap
Shoes: Nine West

Oktoberfest Party:
Long sleeved t-shirt: Kohl's
Sweater: Express
Jeans: The Limited
Shoes: Nine West

*I now understand why people that photograph what they wear each day look away from the camera. It's kind of weird. Haha. Soooo...do you care what I wear? You can take the poll on the right to let me know how you feel. Don't worry, my feelings won' t be hurt :D

I digress. Back to the weekend. How was it for you? I'd love to hear about it!
