Tackle It Tuesday: Anti-Procrasitnation

Sometimes a Tackle It Tuesday isn't cleaning. Sometimes it's not organizing. Sometimes it's just a day where you have been putting something off for no good reason. Today's Tackle It Tuesday was to post Cam's 9 month post. Might seem lame, but it had been bugging me for awhile now and I just need to commit to it. It felt so good to hit publish! If you want to check it out, head on over! But if you are going, don't forget to link up your own Tackle It Tuesday before you leave!

Oh and did you see today's giveaway? It's a good one!

Tackle It Tuesday: Laundry Oh Laundry

Apparently I hadn't done laundry in awhile. Need proof?

Good news is, that is actually clean laundry, and one load isn't even pictured. I had about 6 loads to do and so I washed it all, and then proceeded to vacuum my couch so I could just throw it all on there. So I was starring at this mountain-o-laundry and not really wanting to fold it. But then I remembered it's Tuesday. Aw shucks. The Tackle It Tuesday bug bit me.

So about 30 minutes later, I had this.

And I can honestly say, it is all put away. And the bedding is back on my bed and just waiting for my arrival tonight :)

So, what did you tackle today? I know you did something! Blog it! Share it! And while you are here, check out the first ever Tackle It Tuesday: Mom Edition over on My Happy Line!

Tackle It Tuesday: My Confession (Crappy Cell Phone Photos Included)

I'm going to make this short and sweet for ya'll.

Confession: I have yet to really get in a groove with my new fridge. See?

My Tackle It Tuesday was to get one step closer to that groove. Especially because I needed to grocery shop and make space for the new stuff and it had been far too long since I had cleaned it out. I try to do it once a week on Wednesday, garbage night, but I've skipped it a few times in a row.

Molly's Almost Got Her Groove Back:

One of the main issues I'm having is finding enough storage for taller items without eating up unnecessary space. My fix to that is to keep the top left shelf area clear unless I really need it. That way, I can flip it up for instant tall space.

Link up your Tackle It Tuesday below! But before you do, don't forget, tomorrow is the big day! The really big day!! It's the start of our Express Happy House Challenge Plus! Check back tomorrow morning for the first assignment :) Now, go on and have a great evening, and if you haven't tackled something already, hop to it! The night is young!

Tackle It Tuesday: Brace Yourself

We're back from the cabin, and we had an awesome trip! Details to come on that, but my first priority is finding my kitchen. I need to get to work. What are you tackling today?

Tackle It Tuesday: My Monica Closet

You know how everything in life can be compared to a moment on Friends? Well here is one for you. Remember the episode with the closet? The one where Monica won't let Chandler see inside it and it turns out it's because it's her junk closet. It's her messy space. Well, let me introduce you to My Monica Closet.

What's that you say? It doesn't look THAT bad? Oh....perhaps that's because you know I'm awful at remembering the "before" photo and that's after I had already taken all of this out.

It had been awhile since I purged our guest room closet, AKA my off-season or rarely worn items closet. I have a bad habit of holding on to clothes thinking "I miiiiight need to wear this one day." I don't. I forget I even have the stuff. It was time to purge. So I started piles. One for donating and one for an honest to goodness I really will wear this again, including winter coats and such.

I organized everything going back in the closet. Along with the clothes, we keep our luggage, some spare bedding, purses, sleeping bags and our air mattress for extra guest sleeping space in here.

Last step is to fold all the clothes I'm donating, put them in bags/boxes and schedule a pick up from our local charity organization.
I ended up donating two very large black garbage bags full of clothes. Man does that feel good! Yeah, it really does. Go tackle something that's been weighing on you!

Tackle It Tuesday: Workin the Kitchen

It's a late Tackle It Tuesday for you guys, I apologize! We are helping Carl's cousin and wife move and store their things. My tackle was done far earlier than this post :)

Like I said yesterday, I have tons of kitchen ambition this week. Other than the process of getting the appliances in (which will be it's own post), the first thing I knew I wanted to do was clear out our large cupboard next to the fridge. We no longer need our massive toaster oven since the microwave does double duty now, so I wanted to rearrange it. I also needed space to store some extra baking pieces that came with both the oven and microwave.

I realize my before and after are not all that different from on another. I apologize in advance for that. But they are quite different to me.

Before: Functional, for sure, but housing more than we needed.

Practically everything in this photo was in the cupboard. It covered the kitchen table, counters, stove and spilled into the dining room. It's a big cupboard.

Once I had everything out, I cleaned the interior down with a hot water, concentrated Lysol mixture and then carefully put everything back.

I make sure all my plastic storage has a matching lid. That's a big pet peeve of mine. It's a deep cupboard, so I try to make sure if I need to reach something in the back, I only have to move one set of items. I also put the most used items in the front- glass mixing bowl, lettuce spinner, food chopper, Pyrex storage, etc.

Getting rid of the huge toaster oven, amongst other small objects made enough room for the new stuff as well as all the old stuff to fit nicely. And the fact that it's super clean now just makes my little heart happy.

You tackled something today. I know you did. I didn't even have to remind you. Way to GO!!! Now share your link here or tell me what you did in the comments! I'm always looking for inspiration for my own tackles!!

Tackle It Tuesday

When I vacuum the family room, I always give the couch a quick once over, but I don't do a nice, take all the cushions off, deep clean. It's been awhile. Ew.

(If you aren't laughing at the "Ew" then you should click here, and it's worth your while to watch to the end. If you don't think Jimmy Fallon is funny, well then there is something wrong with you, but don't bother clicking :) )

I digress. Anyway, so Tackle It Tuesday. I decided to give the couch a good ol clean. It started out looking like this:

First, I vacuum the rug so as I'm moving the cushions around, I'm not bringing the rug debris back to the clean couch. Then I remove one section of cushions to vacuum at a time, like this next photo.

I vacuum the frame portion, then the bottom cushion and lastly the top. Throw pillows get a good swipe too. Give the floor/rug one last run, and then it looks like this. Ta da!

Don't have a fabric couch? Break out the leather cleaner. Whatever you do today, make sure to fit in a Tackle It Tuesday! And if you blog about it, be sure to share it in the InLinkz so I can read about it!

Tackle It Tuesday

Oh you know it's Tuesday and you know what that means. It's time to tackle something! I mentioned earlier this week that I already knew what I wanted to take on today, and that was our china cabinet. The inside was embarrassingly dusty :/ And it had become cluttered. I was trying to fit too many things in there! It was time to whip it into shape again.

Before it was cluttered and dusty.

I decided to remove two of the china place settings to gain more room, so first I took those out along with all my china protector cases, wipes it all down and put it away.

Next, I took EVERYTHING out of the top of the cabinet.

Cleaned the entire interior and exterior, glass and wood.

I cleaned out and organized the bottom cupboard area and put everything back in the top.

A little less crowded. A lot less dusty. Much less of an eyesore!

And because my buddy decided to wake up towards the end of my little project, this is what was happening in the adjoining room for the last few minutes.

It's still early on this beautiful Tuesday. No excuses. Go tackle something! What are you tackling today? Blog it. Share it!

Tackle It Tuesday

I attempted this post last night, but gave up after having some graphic issues. I'm attempting again this morning with a fresh view :) I wanted to check in with my Tackle It Tuesday. Yesterday was spent at my in-law's house while Carl was working in the same neighborhood. So while he was working, so was I. I spent a little time cleaning over there to give my always busy mother-in-law a little break. I also gave her my quick cleaning tip on cleaning the sink drain (pour a mix of baking soda and white vinegar down the drain, cover with a dish cloth and let sit for 5 minutes. Wash it down with boiling water.) So, next week if you are looking for something to tackle, maybe you can pass on some tackle love to a deserving friend!
