My Happy House: 6 Month Rundown

How do you sum up 6 months of life in one post? Let's tackle this photo style. Things to note:
1. My poor camera barely has seen the light of day, or night for that matter. Most of these are from a phone dump.
2.  Avoiding any basement photos really limited what I was working with, which showed just how much of our time was spent working on it!

March brought my birthday and some warmer weather around Michigan.  Zoo trips began for the year which were plentiful.

April brought Cam's first real Easter Egg Hunt

His first Tiger's Game- even though we aren't really counting it since we got to sit in the seats for all of 20 minutes. How about we call this Cam's first trip to Comerica Park where he went on the carousel?

And of course it brought this.....

May brought even warmer weather and a lot of outside time.  The kiddie pool was enjoyed by all.  Literally.

I was serious.  We went to the zoo a lot.

June we went on our first trip to the cabin for the year.  Weather was perfect and it was good to get away.

More outside time because it's Cam's favorite

July we actually got to sit, and watch Cam's first* Tiger's Game.  Very important day for Cam's baseball fan parents.

We won.  That's important.

Yuckier days took us to the museum, but of course Cam still gravitates to the water.

August was a trip to the Farmer's Market.  The purple sleeve is my sister.  She's giving Cam his first proper doughnut.  His reaction is quite similar to mine every time I eat a doughnut.  Pure bliss.

I discovered Cam's love for lions and The Lion King to be exact during a basement purchase research trip.

And don't worry, Gibson is still kicking it Beagle style.

The basement was wrapping up in August as well, and this was giving me major anxiety.  I needed this lovely scene out of my family room.

September brought another trip to the cabin.  Watch out, Cam steals ice cream cones.

While there, we attempted some family photos.  It was way easier when Cam was smaller.

And that pretty much brings you to present day.  Phew!  I'll probably be filling in some of the gaps in future posts, but this is the basic rundown of what we've been up to the last 6 months!

Cam is 12 Months...

It's all done.  My baby is 12 months.  Oh fine, he's a year old.  And he's currently playing with old measuring cups and pushing a chair around the kitchen.  I don't know why we buy toys!

I just want to do his quick 12 month recap though before I forget everything.  Seriously, where did my memory go??

Cam has started taking more steps here and there, but is still too cautious to start walking.  Either that or he just realizes that he can crawl much faster than these baby steps and he's in a hurry!

He waves when we say "hi" or "bye bye" but not always in public.  He likes to keep his tricks for us, I suppose.  He claps any time we say "yay."  Even if he is in the middle of something, he will stop for some clapping.

We now get daily hugs and I know how to get them.  You can't just ask, but if he stands up on his changing table, he leaps into a hug. The most awesome, tight baby hug you'll ever get.
Cam's favorite dinner is spaghetti, and he still thinks Gibson is the bees knees!

We spent Cam's actual birthday at the Hands On Museum and I don't think he wanted to leave.  If his little eyes weren't closing on their own, we would have let him stay!  Although, it's a tight race as to who was having more fun, Cam or Carl :)

The last month was filled with Cam's first Christmas, 1st New Years, all the last of his firsts.  We're all done with annual firsts, but I have a feeling some of the "seconds" will be even better!

Happy CAMper Birthday Party!

MY baby. My BABY. My itty, bitty, teeny, tiny baby turned 1 yesterday. Yep. 1 Whole Year Old. I'll save the tears for my pillow, and instead share with you the celebration part. The part that helped this entertaining loving momma look past the fact that we were entertaining because my baby is now a toddler.

Months ago, I was trying to come up with a theme of sorts. I thought the whole "Winter ONEderland" thing was adorable, but probably better suited for a girl. Back to the drawing board, and it dawned on me. Let's have a CAMping party. And it began. I am certainly not the first one to have a camping themed party, because as soon as I started searching I was bombarded with tons of cute ideas. I do believe, as far as the Internet goes, that I was the first person to have a CAMping party though, and that is where my creative intellectual property ends :)

I will warn you. It's time for photo overload. I am going to keep the dialogue to a minimum or this will, seriously, be the longest post in Blogger history.  Please feel free to ask any detail questions in the comments or the FB page!  :)

The Menu
  • CAMping Chili
  • CAMping Corn Chowder
  • Baked Potatoes
  • Potato Bar
  • Fresh Cut Vegetables & Dip
  • Dirt Pudding Cups
  • Dirt Cupcakes
  • S'Mores Bars
  • Ants on a Log
  • Bug Juice (Punch)
  • Canteen Water (Punch)
  • Bottled Water
  • Assorted Beer
  • Coffee

Weekend Prior: All decor and favors were completed
Thursday Prior: Cupcakes were baked
Friday: Chili and Chowder were made and refrigerated.  Dirt cups made and refrigerated.  S'mores Bars made and refrigerated.  Set up was started.
Day of: Cupcakes frosted, punch made, ants on a log made, all food was set up.

Kids received a "hiking bandana" with candy, homemade hot chocolate packets & Play-Doh

Adults received a take out box with homemade hot chocolate packets and homemade trail mix

I couldn't have been happier with how it all turned out.  We had about 50 guests, and just to tell you how big our families are, that accounted for no friends...at least that aren't family. :)  We are so fortunate to have had so many people come and celebrate with Cam!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!!

Making Changes for 2012

I've come to a decision. After over a year of infrequent posting, I've decided to make Cam's blog private. I realized it's really just something for him, and not the entire world. But I'll be making this blog a tad more family oriented. I promise not to lose the integrity of this blog to baby related things, it'll just be more focused on the entire Happy House which includes Cam :) If you are a follower on My Happy Line, please don't take it personally! I'm appreciative of each of the followers, but hope you are either a follower here or will make the switch!

This is also to help me out. Managing 3 blogs is just too much, and I don't imagine it getting any easier. This means more time devoted to this blog alone and more frequent posts! Hopefully you guys won't mind!

To get you guys started with some family fun, the thing that has been consuming most of my free time lately is planning Cam's party. The theme is a Birthday CAMping Party. Here is just a little sneak peek at what is to come. I can't wait to see it all come together, I'm hoping my vision becomes reality, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous!

I can't wait to share some pictures after it's all said and done! Hope you are all having a spectacular Saturday!
