This week I decided to tackle...um...myself? Here's the thing. I've been running...er...jogging very regularly for the last 3 weeks. Sounds small, but this is QUITE the accomplishment for me.
Now, I didn't mention it, because I didn't want to jinx myself, although I still fear I am doing that exact thing right now. Far too often we neglect tidying up one of the most important things to keeping a Happy House, ourselves. I used to work out religiously, but right before our wedding, I just stopped. I couldn't get the motivation back. Well, a year and ::::cough cough:::: a few pounds ::::cough cough :::: later, I'm ready to get myself back into shape. I have already accepted this will be a slow process. I have also accepted that I have no will power when it comes to food. So while I will be food conscious, I am not going to necessarily "diet." My main focus is to tone up my current body.
I'm not going to make fitness a regular post, rather, I will just post when I've hit a personal milestone. I figured giving little updates along the way was just another piece of motivation.
Milestone: Jogging 1 mile without stopping (yes...this is a milestone for me...)
I can just hear you now. Sooo...what exactly did you tackle today? Huh? Huh? :::elbow jab to the side:::: This is a cleaning blog after all. Well, knowing my unmotivated fitness self, the first sign of rain or cold weather will be my #1 excuse to quit. So...I did what every good girl does: I searched craigslist, stumbled upon a treadmill owned by a 3-time pregnant lady in the last 2 years, and the only thing running on it was dust bunnies. I bought it that night. It now is sitting in my garage waiting for my wonderful father-in-law to come over and help Carl move it to the basement.
Like I said, it was a collector of dust. So tonight, I shined her up! It honestly looks brand new, and I definitely won't mind that chilly weather rolling in in a couple months, because, darnit, I have a treadmill! When cleaning exercise equipment, it is important to know that harsh chemicals can damage it. It is best to clean with a vacuum and a damp cloth (water only). If deeper cleaning is necessary, try a littler vinegar and water.
Now, I know YOU don't have a piece of exercise equipment collecting dust...do you? If so, hop to it, give it a scrub and while you are at it, do yourself a favor and put that machine to use!
(I feel so accountable already...)
