Are you still with me? New to the challenge? That's ok, just join in now! Week one was easy, right? Lucky for some of you Tidy Tinas, you already are a daily bed maker. Me? I'm hit or miss, but when it comes to the challenge, I get my rear in gear! Just like last time, I'll share my totals with you and I hope you'll do the same in the comments. Don't by shy if you didn't have a stellar week. It's all about improving...not necessarily being 100% all the time.
My Stats:
Make the Bed: 7/7
Go me!
So, it's time to add another chore. This is probably my favorite because I really feel like it makes a difference. If you do this one already, good for you. This week will be easy!
Empty the Sink!
The key thing is that there are no dishes in the sink at the end of the night. My rule is that dishes should either be in the dishwasher or the cupboards. (Drying dishes next to the sink are ok in my book too) The only exception is if the dishwasher was full and is running. If that is the case, I'll just rinse the dishes and put them in the right hand side. But I usually won't wait long to empty the clean dishes and load those ugly, dirty ones! This is a great routine to get in the habit of doing because it helps avoid dishes around the house. It's just one small task that helps in keeping an allover clean house :)
So that's it. Pretty simple huh? Ok ok...I did tell you the challenge this go round would be a little different. Here is one of the bonus tasks!! At least once before we check back in next week, give all your appliances a good wipe down. They work hard, they deserve a weekly bath :) Ok, really now, that's it. Don't forget to keep making your bed each day and we'll check in next week to see how you did on the two tasks.
Just as a recap:
1. Make the Bed!
2. Empty the Sink! *Bonus wipe down of the appliances
Before you go, don't forget to give me your stats in the comments!! There is motivation in numbers people! If you are blogging about the challenge, leave a link in the comments too. I'll include it in next week's shout out!

I joined in the middle of the week so my stats for week 1 is 4/7. Hopefully I'll do better this week.
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't do GREAT on the bed making, but that's a chore that I normally have done anyway. This week I was actually out of the house before the hubby was even up most days, so it didn't get made. That's the exception to the rule in our home, so it'll improve next week! I'm excited to add the dishes! That is a major point of stress in my house!
ReplyDeleteI made my bed 7/7 too! The dishes might be harder as my dishwaser isn't functional yet. disneyprincessc.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete6/7 for me! Excited for next week!
ReplyDeleteI was 7/7 but making the bed is one chore I have actually been consistent about my entire life, lol!
ReplyDeleteI am 7/7 on the bed-making! This challenge is so motivating. I am ready for Empty the Sink! I do make one modification, however. My rule is that the sink has to be empty before I leave for work in the morning instead of before I go to bed. I am way more willing to do dishes in the morning than at night for some reason. Then, when I get home from work, I have a nice clean kitchen to start cooking in (and if we have any guests for dinner or after-work get-togethers, the kitchen is clean)
ReplyDelete7/7 on the bed making here!
ReplyDeleteMaureen
Bed made 1/1...haha I joined yesterday, so I started this AM with a well made bed! I cleared the sink too, off to a good start :)! http://apairofjacks.blogspot.com/2010/05/happy-house-10-week-challenge.html
ReplyDelete7/7 bed making - though a few were after work since I'm the first out in the morning. Dishes are going to be a little harder.
ReplyDelete6/7 on the bed making. Almost perfect!
ReplyDeleteEmpty the sink is going to be a hard one for me...but I am going to give it my best effort.
I started a little late, but I'm 4/7 on the bed making.
ReplyDelete*Hangs head in shame* 2/7 on the bed making. But in my defense I did start late on this! :)
ReplyDelete7/7 I've been making an effort to go to bed with a clean and tidied kitchen, so I'm ready for 7 days of "Empty the Sink!"

I thought I posted my comment already...but maybe silly me forgot to hit the post comment button!
ReplyDeleteI, too, was 7/7 on Making the Bed. I'm not overly excited for Empty the Sink...I hate doing dishes...with a passion. DH apparently inherited the clean-the-dishes gene from his mama, so it becomes a heated issue for us. Luckily, this challenge will give me more reason to actually clean up after dinner, than to sit on my tushie watching the boob-tube!

I completely failed at week one. 0/7 at making the bed.
ReplyDeleteI blogged about the challenge.

5/7 on the bed making, but I was out of town for business one of the days, and one of the days my husband got up after I left for work and didn't make it. But 5/7 is definitely an improvement for us, so feeling good about that!
ReplyDeleteI am 5/7 on making the bed.....I like to make the bed in the morning but sometimes I'm the first out the door in the morning & the husband doesn't make the bed. :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this week's challenge....we try to empty the sink each night but sometimes we get lazy. Let's see if we can do it!
7/7 on the bed making for me! I'm excited about this week since I struggle with keeping the sink empty even though it drives me crazy!
ReplyDeleteI love this cleaning challenge. I guess I missed last weeks post. So I'm going to start this week. I'm usually good about making the bed so last week was a 5/7.
ReplyDelete6/7, but only because I was out of town for work one day and my husband never makes the bed.
ReplyDeleteCleaning out the sink will be a much bigger challenge for me. I'm really bad about it, but I'm going to do my best!
I was also 7/7. I hope to do just as well in The Sink Challenge, but it will be tough. I also blogged about the challenge http://playinghouseinla.blogspot.com/2010/05/happy-house-challenge.html
ReplyDeleteI was 6/7 on making the bed - not bad - this week will be more of a challenge for me!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think to keep track but I think it was 3 or 4 out of 7 on the bed making. I did blog about the challenge here:
ReplyDeletehttp://fashionably-fit.com/2010/05/28/clean-up-your-act-to-help-your-weight-loss/
I was 2/7 since joining late, but the bed was made for 4 days while we were on vacation, if that counts...haha. I'll probably have a bit of trouble with the sink, but last night the sink was clear when we went to bed!
ReplyDeleteI'm joining in starting this week! kellyn62.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete7/7 :-) love coming home to my made bed!
ReplyDeleteA bit late on this but my score for bed-making was 6/7! So far have emptied my sink everyday too!
ReplyDeleteI was out of town for part of the week, but I did leave my bed all made! I guess that counts as a 7/7
ReplyDeleteI Did Horrible :( Stats for the week were 1/7. I will be better this week though. At least I already have the sink clearing down. That should add back to my motivation.
ReplyDeleteI'm a late addition, but 7/7 for week1!
ReplyDeleteI've also discovered that I don't use the entire bed ; kinda funny to wake up with half the bed still made :-)
