Sunday Decorating

Our mantle was a bit neglected after the Christmas decorations came down. I love the fresh feelings of a de-decorated space, but it was a bit boring. Not to mention, I really don't do any seasonal decor until fall comes around. I'm not a fan of hearts, so the most festive my mantle gets for Valentine's Day is the red...which is standard in this room. To get me in the loving spirit (and to be able to use the new vase I received for Christmas from my in-laws), I picked up some red roses at the market today. We also used some reward card money and bought the spectacular pocket watch style clock that now sits up there. I'm sure I'll get bored with this once Spring rolls around, but I like the tone it gives the room for Winter.

Most recently for the holidays, it looked like this:

And here it is today:

How's your post holiday decor doing? Is it bare and minimal like mine was? Or are you the ultimate decorator year round? I'm working on my skills...and collection of goodies, I'm just realizing it takes a LOT of time...and money. Yuck.

  1. I really like how the red roses look on your mantle. Classic and elegant.

  2. I was thinking this yesterday when I took my holiday decor down...a fresh vase of flowers ties it all in.

  3. I like the progression and the abundance of red is perfect since Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

Nice black and white contrast, as well.
