Fall Has Arrived...

At least from a decor standpoint in our house. There is definitely a chill in the air, and I'm this close to trading in our quilt for our heavy duvet, but I think we still have a couple weeks left of light bedding. So for now, I'm bringing on fall with candles and lots of orange! I like to keep my decor fairly simple. Just a few touches around the house. So far, I've worked on the floating shelves in our family room and our dining room table (which you've already seen a little bit). So first up, the shelves. Regularly, it is accented with red candles, so I just did a swap of orange for red. And then that adorable pumpkin candle. (click on the pics to make them larger) Before:

Next, the dining room table. The living and dining rooms are all ivory, brown, tan and green, and while those seem acceptable colors for fall, I felt they needed a little jazzing up.

I gave up on my search for new candles, and went with some light tan ones I already had, and then I found this runner. So, I will forgo the candles for the runner. Totally worth it! I got one for the sideboard too, but that isn't ready for viewing just yet :)

How is your fall decor coming along?

  4. Love the table. Where is the runner from?

I cleaned the house and started decorating this weekend. I'm just not feeling it as much this year, so we'll see if I finish up soon.

  5. Kim- Kohls! Of all places. I despise Kohls, but my MIL was over and wanted to go. $15 :)

  11. The color palette in my house is white, blue and green. I don't know how to incorporate fall colors with these hues. Any ideas?

  12. I have a similar situation in my family room. While the living/dining room tend to lean whichever way I need them to, the family room is pretty much just reds, greens, tans and black. My main goal, when decorating, is to just swap little pieces of color out. Perhaps try just incorporating one fall color, such as orange, and taking out as much of the blue or green as possible. If you have throw pillows in one of those colors, exchange them for orange ones. You could even just make cute pillow covers for the ones you have. Try taking down a piece of blue or green art, and replacing it with a fall wreath. A fall colored throw on the couch is also a great way to warm up the space and welcome the season. Does that help at all?
