Happy House Cleaning Challenge: Week 7

It's WEEK 7! Take a look around. Is your house looking any different? Does it feel more organized yet? I hope it is. This past week went well for me. I was 7 for 7 on all my tasks. The routines are becoming just that, routine.

So let's get on to our new task. That is what you are here for after all! Well, first let's start with what Nikki received from me last week. Remember, she won the liiiiiiiiittle giveaway for playing along. She received these adorable week layout post it notes.

1. I love post its. I use them all the time at work as they are great to keep track of small tasks.
2. I love lists. Love.

So when I spotted these little beauties at Target, I snatched 2 sets up, one for me, and one for a lucky reader. So of course Nikki can use hers however she'd like, but here is my plan:

WEEK 7: Write It Down

I'm bringing my love of lists to you. I keep a task list for what cleaning gets done each day of the week on the right side of the blog, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I stick to it completely. Sometimes that item doesn't need cleaning. Sometimes I don't have any time to clean at night. Sometimes I have extra time to clean. So while the list is a nice guide, it's rare that I stick to it every day of the week. However, I do take note of what is up for the day, and what I believe I can get done. When I say "take note" that typically means I write a list. Creating goals for myself each day help keep me on task. So that's what I'd like you to do! Each night, jot down 3 things that you will complete the following day. They don't have to be huge things, just ones that will make you feel accomplished.

A few examples:
  • Vacuum the living room
  • Dust the dining room
  • File the "to file" pile
  • Wipe down the kitchen appliances
  • Organize a junk drawer
  • Go to the bank
  • Do a load of laundry
The list is as long as your normal cleaning, organizing, errand list is! Need more ideas? Check my weekly cleaning list on the right hand side of the blog. Tailor it to suit your needs!

I typically like to write my list before I go to bed while watching the news, thus the use for the post it notes. But I'll try to go one step further, and keep my list on the side of the blog as well. That way, you can see what I'm up to each day as well. Just think of it as a little extra motivation or source for more ideas.

Good Luck this week everyone! I know you can do it! Before I leave you, let's recap.

1. Make Your Bed!
2. Empty the Sink!
3. Clear the Clutter!
4. Sweep the Kitchen Floor!
5. Sort the Mail!

6. Spray Your Shower!
7. Write It Down!

Oh and right, almost forgot! How did you do this past week? Just remember, it's never too late to join in the challenge, and posting your results, regardless of how well you did, could reward you in the end. Well, I mean, doing this is a reward in itself, but there could be an extra one :)

  4. I love lists, that will be an easy one to do! Did okay with everything, almost 7/7 except for spraying the shower and sweeping the floor. I am so glad that I've been able to keep up with emptying the sink, as I hate washing dishes!

  5. Thanks for the post-its! I also LOVE lists. I think I'm just in love with crossing things off them! I will definitely use these - though I think I am going to glue a magnet on the back so I can keep the pad on the side of my fridge...
Anyways, as usual, this week was hit and miss:
    Bed 1/7
    Sink 6/7
    Clutter 3/7
    Kitchen Floors 1/7
Mail 7/7 (My goal on Sunday is to get though the paper and get it to the recycling bin, and get the coupons clipped and put away)
Shower 7/7 - I love my automatic shower cleaner, all I have to do is push a button!
I am looking forward to the writing it down challenge, heck maybe DH will see the list and help too!
