The Happy House Express Challenge Begins Now!!!

OK, so if you read the previous post, you saw this challenge is going to be a little different than those in the past. To give everyone a good jumpstart, we're doing two at a time. That's right, two tasks, each week, we'll be living in seriously tidy homes in a matter of 5 weeks!

If you are new to the challenge, here are the basics:

  • Each week, we add a task (or in this case two) to do each and every day.
  • Each task doesn't take more than a couple minutes, so doing the 10 tasks doesn't take long at all!
  • Once a week, we check in on the blog to see how we all did for the week. Just post your results in the comments section for that blog post. We'll do our check ins on Wednesdays, but no worries if you are late to respond!
That's it! Pretty simple, right? So let's get started with our first two tasks.

Make the Bed!!

Not much explaining here. Simply making the bed in the morning will get you started on the right foot and in a clean and organized mode. Forget to do it in the morning? No worries, do it when you get home. Trust me, even if it's only made for a couple hours, diving into a neat looking bed at the end of a long day is SO refreshing!

And...
Empty the Sink!
I'm a huge advocate of not letting dirty dishes pile up. Having a clean sink will instantly make the kitchen look cleaner. It's a great habit to get into. If you have a dishwasher, and more dishes that night than it can hold, just rinse your remaining dirty dishes and put them on one side of the sink. They can go in when you empty the dishwasher, and since they are already rinsed, it will only take a moment to do so rather than trying to scrape off leftover food from the night before!

So there we have it. This week we are making our beds and emptying our sinks. We'll check in next Wednesday to see how you all did. Did you make your bed today? If not, don't forget to do it now or when you get home!

We'll always end with our recaps.

Week 1: Make the Bed & Empty the Sink!!

  2. I wasn't raised to make my bed. When I lived in the dorms in college, my bed was the only comfy place I had to sit, so I made it each day. I fell out of the habit when I had my own apartment and when I got married 3 years ago. Earlier this summer I decided my house looked awful and started making my bed each day. The few times I haven't made it I've been really bummed out when I climb into bed. Even my husband makes comments when it's not made. It's SO nice jumping into a pretty bed at the end of a long day.

  4. I remember from your old challenge the "make the bed" part and I still make that a goal everyday! Currently there is only a sheet on it because it is so hot, but it's done!
