    Monday Morning Weekend Round Up

Oh weekend. I am, for one of the first times in my life, not sad to see that you are over. Carl left on Friday afternoon. Cam does not do well when Carl is out of town. That made it difficult enough. But on Saturday morning, it got even crappier. Cam and I fell down the stairs. My foot slipped, and mommy instinct kicked in. I held on tight to Cam, but that meant I had no way to brace myself. My tailbone took 100% of the hit and I've been in pain ever since. So, it's no surprise that my "green" is limited. :/

    Friday:
    • Meal Plan- below
    • Make progress on the living room and dining room fall decor
    • Make Double Decker Tacos (enough for leftovers to minimize cooking for the weekend)

    Saturday:
    • Finish the living and dining room fall decor
    • Cider Mill with some ladies, babies and a puppy
    • Watch UofM wallop on MSU or vice versa. Doesn't really matter to me, but I'll be spending the day at my brother's house :)
    • Do 2 loads of laundry, fold and put away

    Sunday:
    • Farmer's Market
    • Go down to my parents' house
    • Pick apples at a family friend's house
Somewhere in there I'd love to:

    Meal Plan:
    Sunday: Slow Cooker Beef Stew
Monday: Baked Potato Soup & Salad
    Tuesday: Leftover soup & salad
Wednesday: Crab Rangoon & Veggie Fried Rice
Thursday: Chicken Kiev with fresh vegetable
Friday: Crispy Chicken over Creamy Italian Pasta
    Saturday: Leftovers or Out

All in all, it wasn't terrible considering the circumstances. I'm definitely looking forward to Carl getting home though, and so is Cam. :)

    Monday Morning Weekend Round Up

(Talk about cutting it close on being able to call this a "morning" round up!)

When doing my planning on Thursday, I sort of forgot about a major event, my nephew's Baptism. That's what I get for not planning by my calendar! So, things got switched around a bit.

    Friday:

    • Continue working on our decorating project- It was the mantle project. If you missed it, see it here!
    • Fold and put away some laundry
    • Meal Plan (Details below)
    • Go be a chaperone for my nieces and their boyfriends. (Long story short- I wasn't needed, but it was good news. It meant my BIL got home from the hospital!)
    • Went out to dinner with brother and SIL and had them over for a bit afterward

    Saturday:
    • Catch up on some magazine reading
    • Some light maintenance cleaning
    • Organize the basement a bit
    • Pumpkin Patch with Carl's cousin and his family (Photo Below!)

    Sunday:
    • Farmer's Market (Photo below!)
    • Grocery Shop- I'll have to go today!
    • Organize Coupons- I got some, but not all of it done
    • Pumpkin Patch
    • Possible dinner with cousins
    • Nephew's Baptism

    Meal Plan:

*If you see repeats from the week prior, it usually means something came up and that item wasn't made the previous week. Unless it's Chicken Fajitas. Then it's really true.

The pumpkin patch was ridiculously fun! We got some great photos, you can check out all the details here on My Happy Line.

And then here are my goodies from the Farmer's Market. So many new things this week!

    • Apple Cider
    • Cauliflower
    • Blackberry Apple Jam
    • English Toasting Bread
    • Honeycrisp Apples
    • Concord Grapes
    • Brussel Sprouts

    Friday & Saturday are TBD

Here are the goodies* I got from the Farmer's Market on Saturday.
*Ugly hosta, drain pipe and weeds not included in Saturday's haul.

I'm only about 50% done with my fall decorating, and when I say that, I mean I'm 50% done with each section, not 50% done overall. That means I don't have much to show you. Whaaa-Whooooomp. But I grabbed a few photos of what I have done outside for the time being. I had these little rattan globe lights in the basement from, seriously, 6 years ago. I knew they'd serve a purpose one day! A little Pottery Barn inspiration along with my fancy pumpkins helped make porch a little more festive.

Doesn't the pattern at night look cool? I like it! My big goal this week is to get the rest of the fall decor done so I can show you all! How did your weekend round up?

    Monday Morning Weekend Round Up

First off, way to go blog hoppers! I'm so glad so many of you joined in the fun on Friday! Now it's time to recap your weekend and see how true you were to your plan. Format is same as it was before- green = planned it, did it, red = planned it, didn't get to it and blue = didn't plan it, did it!

    Friday:
    • Meal Plan- Include at least 2 new meals for next week (I'll post it below- it's also always housed on the right side of my food blog- www.myhappymeals.blogspot.com)
    • Write out my grocery list, and organize corresponding coupons
    • Dust & Vacuum Living Room & Dining Room
    • Make Dinner: Fried Buttermilk Chicken Salad- I forgot to prep my chicken before I left for the day (oops), so instead we had Baked Honey Chicken Nuggets, Baked Fries and Greek Salads
    Meal Plan:
Sunday- Pesto Veggie Manicotti, Baguette and Oil
Sunday Baking- Lemon Blueberry Bread & Pizza Dough (Maybe Olga Pita?)
Monday- Thai Chicken Pizza & S&S Thai Salad
Tuesday- BLTs & Olga Pita Bread
    Wednesday- Chicken Fajitas
    Thursday- Leftovers
    Friday- Tacos
Saturday- Use up what we have

    Saturday:
    • Deep clean our hardwood floors -I actually stopped before doing the living and dining room because I ran out of time, but I will do those this week. Our house feels so clean, LOVE IT!
    • Make Dinner: Chicken Fajitas & Grilled Corn on the Cob- I had to make the Fried Buttermilk Chicken since I missed it on Friday...everything got pushed back. My chicken was, uh...slightly darker than it should have been, so I didn't photograph it which means it's not on the blog, but I got the recipe here.
    • Celebrate our 3rd Anniversary- going out for dessert!

    Sunday:
    • Grocery Shopping
    • Farmer's Market Trip
    • Make something extra in the kitchen (because of the next line)
    • Went to an impromptu birthday dinner for Carl's sister
    • Did some coupon shopping
This was just one of my stops at CVS. All for just under $12, plus I got $12 in Extra Care Bucks. I told you a shout out was in order for my CVS card!
So, how did your weekend measure up? Make sure to do YOUR Monday Morning Weekend Round Up! :)

    Monday Morning Weekend Round Up

The weekend is over. Boo. Time to recap.
    1. Make potato salad for tonight
    2. Dust our room- seriously where does all this dust come from??
    3. Do one load of laundry
    4. Organize/Clean the basement
#4 is a bit iffy. I still have more I want to do down there, but it is much more organized now. I didn't do the load of laundry, but it was somewhat on purpose. We really didn't have a load ready to go, but it's ready today :/

We'll be adding our 3rd task a little later today to the weekly challenge, so don't forget to stop back by and report your results for last week!

    Monday, November 29, 2010

Really Productive Weekend at the Happy Homestead!

There was no time to blog this weekend, and I'll show you why. Here are the things we accomplished:

    • Seriously scrubbed the entire first floor- including deep clean for the hardwoods and the drapes even got a wash and iron!
    • Carl got one coat of primer on the crib (harder than it sounds, promise!)
    • Carl finished painting the bookshelf in the nursery- just have to wait a bit to load it all up!
    • Carl primed, painted and painted the office doors. They are hung- but not by the chimney with care ;)
    • A few loads of laundry
    • 4 dinner's worth of mashed potatoes are frozen
    • 8lbs of pulled pork are cooked and frozen...well minus what we ate for dinner
    • Assembled and decorated 2 trees
    • Decorated the mantle and 2 sets of floating shelves
    • Decorated the dining room
Here is the house post super clean after all the totes had come upstairs from storage in the basement.

I still need to take the pictures of all the decorated spaces and trees but here is just a teeny sneak peek of what's to come :)
    Oooo sparkly!

We are normally up north at the family cabin for Thanksgiving, but we stayed home this year. I can't believe how much we got accomplished! I definitely missed getting to see our first snow of the year up there, but having our house fully decorated already does feel good. Luckily Carl's parents are bringing me home greenery so I can make my front door wreath :)

How was your Thanksgiving? Are you decorations started or possibly done? Link me to them in the comments so I can see!

Monday Weekend Round Up/Weekday To Dos

Another weekend down, not that I'm excited about that! We could use all the time we can get over the next couple months. But let's see how the past few days played out.
    Must Get Done (i.e. if it doesn't, we're in trouble :) )
    Molly's Projects:
    • Put together the favors for the shower with my mom and MIL
    • Determine the seating chart for the shower
    • Make Florentine Stuffed Shells
    • Meal Plan (with freezer meals)
    • Grocery Shop
    • Deep clean and organize the refrigerator
    • Clean out and organize the freezer
    Carl's Projects:
    • Cut the grass
    • Blow out the sprinklers
    • Sand down and paint the banister and trim work in prep for carpet installation next week (It didn't get 100% done :( But Carl has time on Thursday night to do it, so we are going with that)
    • Move furniture into nursery- for carpet prep-This was started, but will be finished with some man help on Thursday night since I can't help lift...awww darn ;)
    • Work on Crib -Huge progress was made, I just can't wait until it's done!
    • Redo the dryer vent- it's not drying properly- All better!

    Should Get Done:
    • Finish Dusting and Vacuuming I got some done, but between all these projects and the new carpet this week, I gave up. I'll wait until Saturday to really give things a good scrub. I feel like every time I clean something lately, it's messy 5 minutes later.
    • Clean 1/2 Bath
    • Put away folded laundry from Friday
    Would Be Nice:
    • Work on my new fall centerpiece
    • Buy a candle for my new centerpiece
    • Paint the doors to the office
Eh, like I said, those would be nice to do...but I knew they weren't likely.

So for this week, I've got my to do list going, and I want to throw a shout out to my iGoogle page. I was using one of the to do list widgets (shown below) and you know my love of lists. Anyway, if you don't have an iGoogle page, it's easy to set up and you can add all sorts of things like countdowns, to do lists, even one that will help make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day!
    Weekday To Dos:
Clean, purge and organize the pantry (while my dusting and vacuuming efforts this week are futile, organizing is worth it!)
Get the candle for my new centerpiece
Make a trip to Bath and Body Works
Move the small items out of our bedroom for carpet prep
Call our church and set up a meeting
Figure out a date for my 2nd Annual Cookie Bake & Take party
Freezer Meals (I changed these around this week due to sales)
    • Laughing Cow Chicken
    • Sausage and Cheese Strata
    • Baked Macaroni & Cheese
    • Buttermilk Blueberry Pancakes (I added these because they sounded good!)
    • Pumpkin Doughnut Muffins (We'll try for these again this week)

Ahhh busy-ness! I'm up for it this week though. Bring it on! What's on your to do list this week? How do you keep track of your to dos? I think I use every format possible. Apps on my phone, handwritten as I think of them, my iGoogle page, an email reminder...I'm a list lover, but always looking for new ways that work too.

Oh and get ready for Tuesday. That's my cleaning the pantry day- so be prepared to TACKLE something!
