Happy House Cleaning Challenge: Week 7

Good morning blog reader world! Can I just say I am ecstatic for the long weekend? I have a LOT planned to get done, and I'm finally feeling my swing back into blogging. Maybe. More on that next week. What's more important right now is the check in :)

1. Make the Bed: 6/7
2. Empty the Sink: 7/7
3. Clear the Clutter: 6/7
4. Sweep the Kitchen Floor: 4/7
5. Sort the Mail: 7/7 (yes I realize Sunday has no's a freebie day!)
6. Spray the Shower: 7/7

Not perfect...but my numbers are getting there!! So this week, we'll add an easy one.

WEEK 7: Write It Down

I'm bringing my love of lists to you. I keep a task list for what cleaning gets done each day of the week on the right side of the blog, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I stick to it completely. Sometimes that item doesn't need cleaning. Sometimes I don't have any time to clean at night. Sometimes I have extra time to clean. So while the list is a nice guide, it's rare that I stick to it every day of the week. However, I do take note of what is up for the day, and what I believe I can get done. When I say "take note" that typically means I write a list. Creating goals for myself each day help keep me on task. So that's what I'd like you to do! Each night, jot down 3 things that you will complete the following day. They don't have to be huge things, just ones that will make you feel accomplished.

A few examples:
  • Vacuum the living room
  • Dust the dining room
  • File the "to file" pile
  • Wipe down the kitchen appliances
  • Organize a junk drawer
  • Go to the bank
  • Do a load of laundry
The list is as long as your normal cleaning, organizing, errand list is! Need more ideas? Check my weekly cleaning list on the right hand side of the blog. Tailor it to suit your needs!

I typically like to write my list before I go to bed while watching the news. But I'll try to go one step further, and keep my list on the side of the blog as well. That way, you can see what I'm up to each day as well. Just think of it as a little extra motivation or source for more ideas.

Good Luck this week everyone! I know you can do it! Before I leave you, let's recap.

1. Make the Bed!
2. Empty the Sink!
3. Clear the Clutter!

4. Sweep the Kitchen Floor!
5. Sort the Mail!
6. Spray the Shower!
7. Write It Down!

Oh and right, almost forgot! How did you do this past week? Just remember, it's never too late to join in the challenge, and I love love love seeing your results! And if you do, you get to see your name in shining in the blog post, like these fine folks!

Sweep the floor 1/7 ( so bad!)
    Sort the mail 7/7
Spray the shower 7/7 ( I love this one!)

  2. Haha, this is great! I was about to post that I had much better success this week because I added my tasks to my daily to do list. I love lists! Here's my stats:

    Make the bed: 5/7
Empty the sink: 3/7 (suck at this)
    Clear the clutter: 6/7
Sweep the kitchen floor: 1/7 (oops)
    Sort the Mail 7/7
    Spray the Shower 4/7

  3. Oh, I am not doing as well as I had hoped, but I am still hanging in there. That counts, right? :)

    Make the bed: 7/7
    Empty the sink: 4/7
    Clear the clutter: 3/7
    Sweep the floor: 2/7
    Sort the mail: 6/7
Spray the shower: 0/7 (I just don't think this one is going to happen..)

  4. Hopefully your long weekend was as fantastic as you hoped!

There's an award for you over at Kate's Library!

  5. Make the bed: 7/7
    Empty the sink: 7/7
    Clear the clutter: 4/7
    Sweep the floor: 2/7
    Sort the mail: 7/7
Spray the shower: 0/7 (still don't have anything to do this with)

It's easy AND hard when you're not home to get stuff done!

  6. Did good last week. 6/7 on everything. This week however I am suffering from holiday-weekenditis. (Notice how I'm posting last weeks update on WEDNESDAY NIGHT!) I'm dreading posting my numbers for this week. :(

  7. I did okay- I really need to get with it. I'm having trouble because my work schedule is 3 days a week, 12 hour shifts,so those days I'm LAAAZY when is comes to cleaning up!
    Mail: 7/7
    Shower: 3/7
